The world is watching as SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn mission launches into space, marking the most ambitious private space mission ever undertaken. At the helm of this groundbreaking endeavor are four courageous individuals: Jared Isaacman, Scott “Kidd” Poteet, Sarah Gillis, and Anna Menon.

Jared Isaacman, the mission’s commander and founder of Shift4 Payments, is a seasoned pilot with a passion for space exploration. He spearheaded this mission, demonstrating the power of private investment in pushing the boundaries of human spaceflight.

Scott “Kidd” Poteet, a veteran fighter pilot and Isaacman’s close friend, serves as the mission’s pilot. His extensive experience in high-pressure situations makes him a vital asset to the team.

Sarah Gillis, a physician assistant and accomplished researcher, joins the mission as the mission specialist. Gillis, chosen for her scientific expertise, will conduct crucial research on the effects of spaceflight on the human body.

Anna Menon, a former NASA astronaut and SpaceX’s director of human spaceflight operations, brings her unparalleled experience to the team as the mission’s medical officer. Menon’s expertise in space medicine ensures the safety and well-being of the crew throughout the journey.

Together, this diverse and highly skilled crew embodies the spirit of exploration and innovation. Their mission, which includes testing SpaceX’s next-generation spacesuit, conducting spacewalks, and deploying a commercial spacecraft, is a testament to the immense potential of private space travel.

The Polaris Dawn mission is not just about reaching new heights but also about pushing the limits of human potential. As these four pioneers venture beyond Earth’s atmosphere, they carry with them the hopes and aspirations of an entire generation eager to witness humanity’s next giant leap.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
