Ask HN: Who’s building an AI-free product?

In an era where artificial intelligence seems to dominate every aspect of our lives, a refreshing counter-movement is emerging. AI-free products are making a comeback, offering a unique set of advantages that many of us have forgotten in our rush to embrace the latest tech.

As someone who recently switched to an AI-free smartphone, I can attest to the unexpected benefits. The first thing I noticed was the improved battery life. Without constant AI processes running in the background, my phone now lasts nearly two full days on a single charge. It’s liberating to not be tethered to a charger constantly!

But the advantages go beyond mere convenience. AI-free products often provide:

1.Enhanced Privacy: Without AI algorithms constantly analyzing your data, you regain control over your personal information. It’s like having a digital safe space in an increasingly invasive world.

2.Simplified User Experience: Remember when we could just pick up a device and use it without a learning curve? AI-free products often offer intuitive interfaces that don’t require constant updates or adaptation.

3.Reliability: AI systems can be unpredictable, sometimes making decisions that leave us scratching our heads. AI-free products, on the other hand, offer consistent, dependable performance.

Perhaps most importantly, AI-free products encourage us to use our own intelligence. Instead of relying on algorithms to make decisions for us, we’re pushed to think critically and creatively. It’s a subtle but powerful shift that can enhance our cognitive abilities over time.

Of course, AI has its place and benefits. But in a world increasingly dominated by artificial intelligence, choosing AI-free alternatives can be a breath of fresh air. It’s about finding the right balance and recognizing that sometimes, simpler is better.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
