The world of musical theater is always full of surprises, and the latest production to hit the stage, “Fly Me to the Moon”, is no exception. This charming and bubbly romantic comedy is a delightful treat for the eyes, ears, and heart.

Based on the iconic film “Luna et Castello”, the show transports audiences to the swinging 1950s, where the charming protagonist, Barbara “Fly Me” Russell, played by the talented Lucie Jones, is a free-spirited aviatrix with a passion for flying. With her trusty sidekick, the eccentric and lovable co-pilot, Cosmo, played by the hilarious and endearing Rob Houchen, the duo takes to the skies, spreading joy and laughter wherever they go.

The show’s creators, David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeff Blumenkrantz, have woven a tale of love, adventure, and self-discovery that is both witty and whimsical. The story is full of clever one-liners, comedic misunderstandings, and heartwarming moments that will leave you beaming with delight.

The cast shines brightly, with Lucie Jones bringing her infectious enthusiasm and energy to the title role. Her Barbara is a true embodiment of the era’s carefree spirit, and her chemistry with Rob Houchen is undeniable. The supporting cast is equally impressive, with standout performances from the talented ensemble.

The music is a key aspect of the show, with a catchy and upbeat score that seamlessly blends classic jazz and pop tunes with original compositions. The choreography, led by Lee Proud, is vibrant and playful, capturing the essence of the era’s iconic dance styles.

The set design, courtesy of Tim Shortall, is a masterclass in nostalgic charm, transporting audiences to a bygone era with its retro-futuristic flair. The projection mapping and lighting, designed by Richard Pilbrow, are equally impressive, bringing the night sky to life with a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns.

In short, “Fly Me to the Moon” is a genuine treat that will leave you feeling uplifted and entertained. It’s a perfect blend of nostalgia, wit, and romance, with a dash of adventure thrown in for good measure. If you’re looking for a light-hearted and charming evening out, look no further than this delightful show. So, book your tickets and get ready to soar to new heights with “Fly Me to the Moon”.
