The Role

As a senior Rails engineer at Great Question, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining our platform’s core infrastructure, collaborating with the development team to design and develop new features, and ensuring the scalability and performance of our system. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of our platform and helping us achieve our mission to democratize access to knowledge.

Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient backend infrastructure using Ruby on Rails
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver new features and functionality
Conduct code reviews, technical mentoring, and knowledge sharing with junior engineers
Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, and develop solutions to optimize system performance
Work closely with our data science and product teams to ensure seamless integration of data-driven features

Requirements

5+ years of experience in software development with Ruby on Rails
Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices
Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g. Git)
Proficiency in Ruby, Rails, and related technologies (e.g. SQL, JSON, GraphQL)
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug and optimize complex systems
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with distributed teams
