3 Ways to Get Rid of Ringworm Scars

Introduction:

Ringworm is a common fungal infection that affects the skin, causing red, itchy, and circular rashes. Although the infection itself is not hard to treat, it can sometimes leave unsightly scars on the affected areas. Fortunately, there are ways to reduce the appearance of ringworm scars and promote healthy skin healing. In this article, we will explore three effective methods to get rid of ringworm scars.

1.Remedies:

There are several natural remedies that can help diminish ringworm scars over time. Here are some popular options:

– Aloe Vera: Known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, aloe vera can expedite the healing process and reduce scar visibility. Apply fresh aloe vera gel directly to the scarred area twice daily for optimum results.

– Coconut Oil: Rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory fatty acids, coconut oil can promote skin repair and decrease scar prominence. Gently massage a small amount of extra-virgin coconut oil onto the affected area daily.

– Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is known for its antifungal properties, which can help prevent further infections while also slowly fading scar tissue. Dilute apple cider vinegar with water (1:4 ratio) and apply it on the scar using a cotton ball. Leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

2.Over-the-counter Products:

Many over-the-counter products are formulated specifically to reduce scarring.

– Vitamin E Creams or Oils: Vitamin E is known to improve skin elasticity and stimulate collagen production. Use a vitamin E cream or oil daily on your ringworm scars to minimize their appearance over time.

– Silicone Gel Sheets: These adhesive sheets work by trapping moisture on the skin’s surface, hydrating the scar tissue and promoting faster healing. Apply the silicone gel sheet directly onto your ringworm scar for 8-12 hours a day for best results.

– Mederma: A popular scar treatment cream, Mederma contains active ingredients that help improve the skin’s texture and color. Apply Mederma as directed on the product packaging, usually once or twice daily for several weeks.

3.Professional Treatments:

For stubborn scars or those covering large areas, professional treatments may offer better results.

– Chemical Peels: A chemical peel uses acids to remove the top layer of skin, prompting new skin growth and reducing the appearance of ringworm scars. Consult with a dermatologist for a customized treatment plan.

– Microdermabrasion: This non-invasive procedure exfoliates the outermost layer of the skin using tiny crystals, promoting collagen production and revealing smoother, healthier-looking skin beneath. Microdermabrasion can be performed at a dermatologist’s office or specialized skincare clinic.

– Laser Therapy: Laser treatments target scar tissues directly and stimulate collagen production, which can help minimize the appearance of deep or dark ringworm scars. Discuss this option with your dermatologist to determine if it’s suitable for your specific situation.

Conclusion:

Although ringworm scars can be frustrating to deal with, there are various options available to improve their appearance. Natural remedies, over-the-counter products, and professional treatments can all contribute to diminishing ringworm scars and promoting healthy skin healing. Always consult with a healthcare professional before trying any new treatments to ensure they are safe and appropriate for your individual needs.
