Hotmail, which is now Outlook.com, is one of the oldest and most popular email services available. With millions of users worldwide, it is essential to know how to search and organize your emails effectively. In this article, we will walk you through 11 steps that will help you search inside Hotmail with ease.

Step 1: Log in to your Hotmail account

Visit www.outlook.com and sign in with your Hotmail email address and password.

Step 2: Access your Inbox

After signing in, click on the “Inbox” folder located on the left-side menu to view your received emails.

Step 3: Locate the Search bar

At the top of your screen, you’ll find a search bar with a magnifying glass icon. This is where you’ll type your query to search for specific emails.

Step 4: Type in your keywords

Enter the keywords or phrases related to the email you’re looking for in the search bar. For more precise results, use quotation marks around specific phrases or names.

Step 5: Press Enter or click on the magnifying glass icon

Hit Enter on your keyboard or click on the magnifying glass icon to initiate the search within your Hotmail inbox.

Step 6: Refine your search using filters

You can narrow down your search results by clicking the “Filter” option located above your inbox. Here, you can choose from various filtering options such as “Sort by date,” “From,” “To,” “Attachments,” and more.

Step 7: Use advanced search operators

Hotmail supports advanced search operators that enable more accurate searches. Some examples include:

– From:([email protected]) – Searches all emails from a specific sender;

– Subject:(keyword) – Searches for emails with a particular word or phrase in the subject line;

– HasAttachments:YES – Searches for emails with attachments.

Step 8: Scroll through the results

Verify the results displayed after the search. You can scroll through the emails and decide which ones are relevant to your query.

Step 9: Open the desired emails

Click on any email in the search results to read its content and view any attachments if necessary.

Step 10: Save important searches

If you often search for specific types of emails, save your search by clicking on “Save this search” just below the search bar. This will create a new dynamic folder that contains all emails relevant to your saved query.

Step 11: Keep your Inbox organized

Properly organizing your emails by creating folders, archiving, or deleting unnecessary messages will help make searching inside Hotmail more efficient in the future.

By following these 11 steps, you will master searching inside Hotmail, making it easier to find essential emails and declutter your inbox. Happy searching!
