Introduction:

If you need to update your name on PayPal due to a legal name change or simple error, follow these straightforward steps to ensure your account remains secure and up-to-date. In just 4 easy steps, you can change your PayPal name and confidently continue using the platform.

Step 1: Log in to your PayPal account

To get started, go to the PayPal website (www.paypal.com) and log in to your account using your email address and password. Your account summary page should appear once you’re logged in.

Step 2: Access Your Account Settings

On the top right corner of your account summary page, click on the gear icon to access your account settings. The settings page contains information about your profile, financials, and security options.

Step 3: Update Your Name

Once you’re on the settings page, locate the “Name” section, which displays your current PayPal name. To change it, click on the “Update” button right next to it.

Keep in mind that there are two types of name changes you can make:

– A minor change (like fixing a typo or changing a middle name)

– A major change (like changing your entire name after marriage or divorce)

For minor changes, simply edit the name fields with correct information and click “Change Name.”

For major changes, you will be required to fill out a form and provide additional documentation. Generally, this includes uploading an image of a government-issued identification (such as a driver’s license or passport) that shows your new legal name. Follow the prompts and submit the required information.

Step 4: Wait for Verification

After making any changes or submitting documentation for a major name change, allow some time for PayPal’s customer support team to review and verify your information. This process typically takes about three business days but may vary depending on the volume of requests. Once your name change is approved and applied, you will receive a confirmation email from PayPal.

Conclusion:

Changing your name on PayPal is a quick and straightforward process. Following these four steps, you can easily update your account, ensuring that your information is correct and secure. Keep in mind that for significant name changes, you may need to provide documentation before the change can be approved.
