“Community,” the beloved ensemble sitcom set in a wacky community college, has its fair share of iconic episodes that put each of its main characters in the spotlight. Here’s a look at which episode can be considered the best for each member of Greendale’s study group.

Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) – “Contemporary American Poultry” (Season 1, Episode 21)

Jeff transforms into a mob boss thanks to Greendale’s chicken finger shortage, displaying his leadership and knack for manipulation at its finest. The homage to Goodfellas and his struggle for power make this Jeff’s standout episode.

Britta Perry (Gillian Jacobs) – “Geography of Global Conflict” (Season 3, Episode 2)

Britta finds her activist spirit reignited by the arrival of a new rival. The episode dives into her backstory, giving us more insight into her passions and the reasons she often becomes the butt of the group’s jokes.

Abed Nadir (Danny Pudi) – “Critical Film Studies” (Season 2, Episode 19)

This episode gives Abed two parallel narratives; one where he seemingly takes on a new personality and another delving into his fascination with pop culture. His reveal and emotional depth are on full display here.

Shirley Bennett (Yvette Nicole Brown) – “Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilantism” (Season 3, Episode 9)

Shirley explores her suppressed competitive streak and troubled past with Jeff through an intense game of foosball. This episode provides depth to Shirley’s often motherly demeanor.

Troy Barnes (Donald Glover) – “Mixology Certification” (Season 2, Episode 10)

On Troy’s 21st birthday, we see him face adulthood and the reality beyond Greendale. His growth is central to this episode as he proves himself to be more than just comedic relief.

Annie Edison (Alison Brie) – “Cooperative Calligraphy” (Season 2, Episode 8)

Annie insists on finding out who took her pen, sparking a bottle episode that highlights her need for control and order among the chaos of the group. This episode peels back layers to reveal insecurities and dependency issues.

Pierce Hawthorne (Chevy Chase) – “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” (Season 2, Episode 14)

While Pierce has mostly been known for his controversial antics, this episode cements him as a memorable villain within the fantastical game the group plays. Here Pierce’s complexity is showcased through his interactions with others.

Each character in “Community” brings something unique to the table, and these episodes brilliantly highlight why they are beloved by fans across the world. Whether through drama or comedy, “Community” provided each protagonist with moments where they truly shone.
