5 Ways to Make Your Economy Boom in Age of Empires 2

Introduction:

Age of Empires 2 (AoE2) is a classic real-time strategy game where success relies on a strong economy. A booming economy allows players to create massive armies, research crucial technologies, and build powerful empires. Here are five key strategies to help you make your economy flourish in AoE2.

1. Timely Villager Production:

Villager production is the backbone of your economy in AoE2. Keep your Town Center working at all times to create villagers until you have about 100-120 villagers (this may vary based on the game type and your strategy). Ensure you have enough food income – hunting, fishing, and farming – to maintain constant villager production without idling your Town Center.

2. Resource Gathering Efficiency:

Assign villagers to gather resources according to their expertise – for example, assign them to gold mines far away from the Town Center rather than building a new mining camp. Make use of technologies that improve resource-gathering efficiency, such as Lumber Camp upgrades for faster wood gathering. Place resource collection buildings close to relevant resources – like placing a Mill near berry bushes.

3. Balanced Distribution of Resources:

It’s crucial to distribute your resources evenly among different economic aspects. Balance your spending among food, wood, gold, and stone depending on your strategy. Investing heavily in one resource over another can hinder progress and leave you vulnerable during attacks.

4. Economic Upgrades:

Researching economy-related technologies significantly boosts productivity in AoE2. Technologies like Double-Bit Axe and Gold Mining improve villager efficiency while wheelbarrow and hand cart increase carrying capacity. Prioritize these upgrades throughout the game for a more robust economy.

5. Expanding Your Empire:

Expansion is necessary as resources near your starting location will eventually deplete or become inefficient to gather due to distance. Building additional Town Centers, mining camps, lumber camps, and mills in new locations helps sustain your resource intake and protect against potential resource shortages. This also enables you to control more territory and establish a dominant presence on the map.

Conclusion:

A booming economy is a key factor in leading your civilization to victory in Age of Empires 2. Remember to focus on villager production, resource gathering efficiency, balanced resource distribution, and territory expansion to build an unstoppable force capable of steamrolling your enemies. Now that you are armed with these five tips, go forth and conquer!
