Lasagne, an Italian classic, has become a popular dish worldwide due to its rich flavors and satisfying layers of pasta, cheese, and sauce. In this article, we will guide you step-by-step on how to cook the perfect lasagne.

Ingredients:

– 12 lasagne noodles

– 1 lb ground beef

– 1 onion, chopped

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes

– 1 (16 oz) can tomato sauce

– 1 (15 oz) container of ricotta cheese

– 1 egg

– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

– 2 cups grated Parmesan cheese

– Salt and pepper, to taste

– Fresh basil leaves (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Cook the lasagne noodles according to the package instructions. Drain, then lay the noodles flat on a clean surface to keep them separated.

3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Remove any excess fat.

4. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes until they become soft and translucent.

5. Mix in the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Bring it to a boil then reduce heat and let it simmer for at least 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

6. While the sauce is simmering, combine the ricotta cheese and beaten egg in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

7. To start assembling the lasagne, spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a baking dish (size: approximately 9×13 inches).

8. Lay four noodles over the sauce layer followed by one-third of the ricotta cheese mixture, one-third of the mozzarella cheese, and one-third of the Parmesan cheese.

9. Spread another layer of sauce over the cheeses and repeat the layering process two more times, finishing with a final layer of sauce and topped with the remaining cheeses.

10. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

11. Allow your lasagne to cool for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares and serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.

Enjoy your delicious homemade lasagne! With these simple steps, you can now impress your family and friends by cooking this classic Italian dish to perfection.
