1. Talk to yourself: One of the easiest ways to practice speaking English alone is to talk to yourself. Narrate your day, describe what you’re doing, or express your thoughts and feelings out loud in English.

2. Record yourself: Use your phone or a recording device to record your voice while speaking in English. Play it back, listen for errors or improvements you can make, and then re-record your speech.

3. Read aloud: Choose a book, article, or passage in English and read it aloud. This helps improve pronunciation and fluency while increasing your vocabulary.

4. Memorize phrases: Create a list of common phrases or expressions that you want to become familiar with, and practice saying them in different situations. The more you say them, the more natural they will sound.

5. Use flashcards: Create flashcards with the word on one side and the definition on the other. Look at the word side first, and try to say its meaning aloud before flipping over to confirm the answer.

6. Sing along: Listening to music can help improve language skills. Put on some English songs you enjoy, look up the lyrics, and sing along with the artist as best as you can.

7. Imitate native speakers: Watch videos or listen to recordings of native English speakers and try imitating their accents, pronunciation, and intonation.

8. Practice tongue twisters: Tongue twisters are sentences that are difficult to say quickly because of similar sounds or sequences of words. Practicing tongue twisters in English can help improve your pronunciation and fluency.

9. Engage in online voice chats: There are many online platforms that allow users to engage in conversations with people from all over the world without having to show their faces. Join these platforms and commit yourself to only speaking English during these chats.

10. Utilize language learning apps: Several language learning apps offer activities and lessons specifically designed to help improve speaking skills, such as Duolingo, Babbel, and Rosetta Stone. Dedicate time daily to practicing with these apps.

11. Mimic audio-based resources: Choose a podcast, audiobook, or news report in English and listen carefully as you try to mimic the speaker’s pronunciation and intonation.

12. Join online discussion forums: Online forums like Reddit and Quora often have threads where people converse in English. Participate by writing out your thoughts in English first, then practice saying them aloud before posting.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
