In today’s world of smart technology, home security has advanced beyond simple alarms and has integrated with our need for convenience and connectivity. Enter the Ring Peephole Cam, a unique and innovative device that lets you secure your front door while maintaining the traditional peephole functionality. Designed for apartment dwellers or anyone with a peephole, this device allows you to see who’s at your door via a smartphone app. Here’s how to install the Ring Peephole Cam in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Check Door Compatibility

Before you purchase the Ring Peephole Cam, ensure that your door is compatible. Your door should be 1-3/8″ to 2-1/4″ thick and have an existing peephole.

Step 2: Prepare Tools and Parts

In the box, you will find the Ring Peephole Cam, a tool to remove your existing peephole, USB charging cable, installation screws, and an instruction manual. Charge the device fully before installation.

Step 3: Remove the Existing Peephole

Use the provided tool or an appropriate screwdriver to unscrew your current peephole from both sides of the door.

Step 4: Install the Peephole Cam Sleeve

Take the outer section of the Peephole Cam—the one with the camera lens—and thread it through from the outside of your door where your old peephole used to be. Connect it to the indoor section by twisting them together.

Step 5: Install Indoor Assembly

On the inside part of your door, place the battery into the slot on the indoor assembly. Then connect it with the outdoor piece by pressing firmly until you hear a click.

Step 6: Secure With Bracket and Screws

Once aligned, use the mounting bracket and screws that came in the package to secure everything in place onto your door. The bracket should clamp onto both sides tightly without impeding door functionality.

Step 7: Setup Via Ring App

Download and open the Ring app on your smartphone to set up your device. Follow on-screen instructions to connect it to your home Wi-Fi network, adjust settings, and familiarize yourself with its features.

Step 8: Test Your Device

Do a test run by pushing the doorbell button or having someone stand outside your door to trigger a motion alert. Ensure that notifications pop up on your phone and that you can view live video feed smoothly.

Final Thoughts

The installation process should take no more than a few minutes sans any technical challenges. With this quick setup completed, you can now enjoy enhanced security with clear video footage and two-way talk functionality provided by your new Ring Peephole Cam. Always refer back to the manual for troubleshooting or reach out to Ring support for extra help if needed.
