Unpairing your Apple Watch from your iPhone can be necessary if you’re planning to sell or give away your watch, or if you need to troubleshoot certain issues. Following these steps will ensure that you safely sever the connection between your devices and keep all your data secure.

Before you start, make sure your Apple Watch and iPhone are close together until you complete these steps.

1.Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

2.Tap on the ‘My Watch’ tab at the bottom of the screen.

3.Find the ‘i’ icon next to the watch that you want to unpair and tap it.

4.Select ‘Unpair Apple Watch’ at the bottom of the screen.

5.Confirm that you want to unpair the watch.

6.You might need to enter your Apple ID password to disable Activation Lock.

7.After these steps, your iPhone will create a backup of your Apple Watch.

8.Wait for the process to finish, this could take a few minutes.

9.Once done, you’ll see a confirmation message.

Remember, if you have a cellular model, you also have the option to keep or remove your cellular plan. If you plan on pairing your watch with another iPhone, it’s advisable to keep your plan.

By unpairing your Apple Watch from your iPhone properly, not only do you protect your personal information, but you also ensure that the watch will be ready for its next user or can be seamlessly connected to another device.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
