1. Research different denominations: Before joining a church, it’s essential to understand the various Christian denominations’ beliefs and practices to find one aligning with your personal convictions.

2. Ask for recommendations: Speak with friends, family, or colleagues who share your faith and ask for suggestions on local churches they attend or have visited.

3. Visit several churches: Attend multiple services at several churches in your area before deciding where you feel connected and welcome.

4. Speak with clergy or leadership: Take the opportunity to chat with pastors or church leaders to get a sense of their vision and values, ensuring they align with your own beliefs.

5. Attend a newcomers’ class: Many churches offer classes specifically for those new to the faith or their congregation—joining these classes will help you understand the church’s expectations and membership process.

6. Participate in church activities: Engage in fellowship by attending Bible study groups, outreach programs, prayer meetings, or social events—this participation will give you insight into the community and help form relationships within the congregation.

7. Pray for guidance: Ask God for wisdom and direction about the decision to join a specific church and listen for His guidance in your heart.

8. Meet with other members: Connect with other congregants to gain insights into their experiences and gauge if this community is suitable for your spiritual growth.

9. Reflect on your experiences: Assess how comfortable you feel within the church environment, considering factors such as worship style, preaching approach, community engagement, and support from fellow members.

10. Complete membership requirements: Depending on the denomination, some churches may require classes, baptism or confirmation, confession of faith, tithing commitments, or signed agreements to adhere to specific doctrines.

11. Make a commitment to serve: Your spiritual growth will be directly impacted by how involved you become in serving both within the church and the broader community.

12. Nurture your spiritual growth: After joining a church, prioritize consistent attendance, engage in regular prayer and Bible study, and seek mentorship or accountability partners to help deepen your relationship with God and fellow believers.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
