A salmon ladder is an impressive and challenging piece of workout equipment, often seen in obstacle course races and on TV shows like American Ninja Warrior. It’s an effective exercise tool that can help build upper body strength, agility, and coordination. Building your own salmon ladder may seem daunting, but with some patience and the right tools, you can have one set up in your backyard or garage in no time. Here are 12 steps to guide you through the process:

1. Choose a location: Find a space with a flat surface and enough room for the ladder, ideally 8-10 feet high with at least 3-5 feet of clearance on each side.

2. Gather materials: Purchase the necessary materials for the project, such as wooden posts, rungs, square-tubing steel bars, screws, and metal brackets.

3. Measure and mark: Measure the wooden posts to the desired height (8-10 feet) and mark them with a pencil.

4. Cut the wooden posts: Carefully cut the marked wooden posts using a saw to create two sturdy vertical supports for your salmon ladder.

5. Attach metal brackets: Attach metal brackets to each cut post at even intervals (approximately 1 foot apart), ensuring they are securely fastened using appropriate screws.

6. Cut square-tubing steel bars: Measure and cut square-tubing steel bars to create rungs that will fit between your two wooden vertical supports.

7. Attach rungs to metal brackets: Slide each steel bar into the metal brackets on both wooden vertical supports, ensuring they are securely fastened and properly aligned.

8. Drill holes for the pull-up bar: On each vertical support, drill holes for the pull-up bar (usually two per support). Make sure they are at equal height on both posts.

9. Insert pull-up bar: Securely attach the pull-up bar to the drilled holes on both wooden vertical supports.

10. Assemble the ladder: Stand both wooden vertical supports upright and position them parallel to each other, ensuring they are the correct distance apart (approximately 4 feet).

11. Secure the ladder: Bury the base of each wooden vertical support in the ground or attach them to a stable, heavy-duty base to keep them secure and prevent wobbling.

12. Test your salmon ladder: Do a few test runs on your new salmon ladder to ensure everything is safe and secure – then start working out!

With these 12 steps, you will have created your very own challenging and rewarding salmon ladder. Enjoy the benefits of increased upper body strength and stamina while having fun with this unique exercise tool!
