How to Use Brylcreem: 13 Steps

Brylcreem is a classic men’s grooming product that has been around since the 1920s. Known for its distinctive red packaging and iconic jingle “a little dab’ll do ya,” it’s still a popular choice for those looking to achieve a sleek, well-groomed look. Follow these 13 steps to learn how to use Brylcreem effectively:

1. Choose your Brylcreem: There are a few varieties of Brylcreem available, including the original formula, a light version, and a gel variant. Pick one based on your hair type and desired hold.

2. Wash your hair: Start with clean, damp hair. Use your favorite shampoo and conditioner before moving on to the next step.

3. Towel dry your hair: Gently pat your hair dry with a towel, leaving it slightly damp but not dripping wet.

4. Scoop out some Brylcreem: Using your fingers or a small spatula, scoop out a small amount of Brylcreem (about the size of a pea or dime depending on your hair length).

5. Rub between your hands: Spread the Brylcreem evenly across both of your hands, ensuring that you have an even coating on all of your fingers and palms.

6. Apply to your hair: Work the product into your hair, starting at the roots and moving towards the tips. Make sure that you’re evenly distributing the product throughout your mane.

7. Comb through: Use a wide-toothed comb or brush to distribute the Brylcreem evenly throughout your hair, ensuring there are no clumps or unevenly coated areas.

8. Style as desired: With the Brylcreem now evenly spread throughout your hair, you can begin to style it as desired. This may involve combing into place for a more classic look or using your fingers to create a more textured, messy style.

9. Apply more if necessary: If you find that your hair isn’t holding its shape or needs additional control, add a small amount of extra Brylcreem and comb or finger-style into place.

10. Allow to dry: Give your hair time to air dry, as this will help the Brylcreem set your style in place.

11. Reapply throughout the day if needed: If you find that your hair loses its shape or begins to look a little greasy throughout the day, simply reapply a small amount of Brylcreem and restyle as desired.

12. Wash out at night: It’s important not to leave Brylcreem in your hair overnight, as this can lead to buildup and a greasier appearance over time. Simply wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner before bed as usual.

13. Experiment with hairstyles: With practice and experimentation, you’ll quickly learn which styles work best for your hair type and preferences using Brylcreem.

By following these 13 steps, you can achieve a classic, well-groomed look with ease using Brylcreem. Happy styling!
