3 Ways to Help Your Nails Recover After Acrylics

Acrylic nails have become a fashion-forward staple for many women, offering a glamorous way to enhance one’s overall appearance. However, after removing your acrylic nails, the state of your natural nails may be less than desirable. Fear not, because there are tried and true methods to help restore your nails back to their original, healthy condition. Here are three ways to help your nails recover after acrylics.

1. Hydrate and Nourish

When being covered with acrylics for an extended period, your natural nails have been deprived of moisture and nutrients needed for maintaining their health. To help restore them, focus on hydration and nourishment by using nail oils and moisturizing creams that contain essential vitamins like Vitamin E or jojoba oil. Apply these products daily, preferably before bed, to allow your nails time to absorb these nutrients while you sleep. Be sure to target both the nail plate and surrounding cuticle area as this helps promote healthy nail growth.

2. Avoid Harsh Chemicals

After removing acrylics, it’s important to give your nails a break from harsh chemicals found in nail polishes, acetone-based removers, and even household cleaning products. When possible, opt for water-based nail polishes and non-acetone removers as they tend to be less damaging to your already weakened nails. Additionally, wear gloves when cleaning or handling chemicals, like detergents or bleach solutions, as these can further damage your nails and cuticles.

3. Strengthen Your Nails Gradually

Your journey back to strong and healthy nails will take some time; consequently, it’s crucial that you follow measures that aid in gradual strengthening of the nail structure. Start by keeping your nails short during the recovery phase; trim them regularly to remove any weak or damaged areas. Additionally, use a strengthening base coat nail polish specifically designed for weak nails to help add structural support. Maintaining a balanced diet rich in biotin and other essential nutrients can also work wonders for your nails, making them more resilient in the long run.

In summary, to help your nails recover after acrylics focus on hydrating and nourishing your nails, avoiding harsh chemicals, and gradually rebuilding their strength through proper care and nutrition. Having patience during this process is key, as it takes time for the natural nail structure to bounce back. With perseverance and proper care, you will be well on your way to healthier and happier nails.
