Playdough has been a staple activity for kids for generations. It’s fun, sensory-based, and promotes creativity. One popular homemade version of playdough is made with cornstarch, which gives it a soft and silky texture. In this article, we’ll explore four different methods to create cornstarch playdough that you and your child will love.

1. Basic Cornstarch Playdough Recipe

Ingredients:

– 2 cups cornstarch

– 1 cup water

– Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

1. In a large bowl, combine the cornstarch and water.

2. If you want to add color to the playdough, add a few drops of food coloring to the water before mixing it.

3. Stir the ingredients until they form a smooth dough consistency.

4. Knead the dough until it becomes more pliable and less sticky.

2. Cornstarch and Conditioner Playdough Recipe

Ingredients:

– 2 cups cornstarch

– 1 cup hair conditioner

– Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

1. In a large bowl, combine the cornstarch and hair conditioner.

2. Mix in food coloring if desired, using a few drops for muted hues or more for deeper tones.

3. Stir the mixture until it forms a smooth dough consistency.

4. Knead the dough with your hands until pliable and less sticky.

3. Cornstarch Playdough with Cream of Tartar Recipe

Ingredients:

– 2 cups cornstarch

– 1 cup salt

– 3 tbsp cream of tartar

– 2 cups boiling water

– Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

1. In a large bowl, mix together the cornstarch, salt, and cream of tartar.

2. If using food coloring, add a few drops to the boiling water.

3. Gradually add the boiling water to the dry ingredients while stirring until a dough forms.

4. Let the dough cool slightly before kneading it until smooth and pliable.

4. Edible Cornstarch Playdough Recipe

Ingredients:

– 1 cup cornstarch

– 1 cup powdered sugar

– 3 tbsp cold water

– Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

1. Combine the cornstarch and powdered sugar in a bowl.

2. If desired, mix food coloring into the cold water before adding it to the dry ingredients.

3. Gradually add the colored water to the bowl and mix until a dough forms.

4. Knead the dough with your hands until smooth and pliable. Please note that while this playdough is edible, it may not taste great due to its main ingredients being cornstarch and powdered sugar.

There you have it – four unique ways to create cornstarch playdough for endless fun and creativity! Remember that homemade playdough should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator to prolong its life. Happy crafting!
