4 Ways to Braid Short Hair for Men

Braiding short hair is not just for women; men, too, can enjoy sporting a variety of braided hairstyles that are both stylish and easy to maintain. Whether you are looking for a new look or need some inspiration for your short hair, here are four ways to braid short hair for men.

1. Cornrows: The Classic Choice

Cornrows are a traditional African hairstyle that has stood the test of time and remains immensely popular among men with short hair. This style involves tightly braiding your hair close to the scalp in neat and even rows. To achieve this look, you will need to part your hair into sections and braid each one from the front towards the back. Cornrows work best on slightly damp hair, allowing for easier manipulation and long-lasting hold.

2. Boxer Braids: Sporty and Functional

Inspired by the world of boxing, boxer braids are a trendy way to keep your short hair looking good and out of your face during physical activities. This hairstyle involves separating your hair into two sections and plaiting each side tightly against the scalp, starting from near the forehead and going all the way down to the nape of your neck. Be sure to use a light hold gel or mousse as a foundation for this style to add grip and control flyaways.

3. Zig-zag Braids: A Quirky Twist

If you’re looking for a unique braided hairstyle that adds an element of fun to your appearance, consider trying out zig-zag braids. This technique entails using small rubber bands to create distinct zig-zag patterns throughout your hair while keeping tight braids in place. To achieve this look, simply section your hair into small triangles or squares instead of straight lines like in cornrows before braiding tightly along the partings.

4. Dutch Braid Mohawk: Edgy Elegance

For men with short hair who desire an edgier look, the Dutch braid Mohawk is the perfect combination of braids and punk rock attitude. To create this hairstyle, section your hair into three parts – the middle section should have slightly more hair than the sides. Begin creating a Dutch braid in the middle section by passing the outer strands under the center strand while adding more hair from the sides. As you progress towards the back of your head, continue adding hair and tightening the braid to create a Mohawk-like effect.

In conclusion, braiding short hair for men is not only possible but also a fantastic way to express your personal style and creativity. Moreover, with these four unique techniques – cornrows, boxer braids, zig-zag braids, and Dutch braid Mohawk – you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a new favorite hairstyle. So why wait? Embrace the versatility of your short hair and give these innovative braids a try!
