5 Ways to Find the IMEI or MEID Number on a Mobile Phone

Introduction

The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) and Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID) are unique numbers assigned to every mobile device. These numbers are essential for identifying and tracking devices, as well as for troubleshooting and resolving issues. This article will discuss five ways to find your mobile phone’s IMEI or MEID number.

1. Dialing a USSD Code

One of the quickest and easiest ways to find your device’s IMEI or MEID number is by dialing a specific code. Open your phone’s dialer and enter *#06#. A popup will appear displaying your device’s unique 15-digit IMEI number or 14-digit MEID number.

2. Checking the Device’s Back or Battery Compartment

Another common place to locate the IMEI or MEID number is on the back of the device, typically near the bottom or under the battery compartment. For devices with removable batteries, you can find the number printed on a sticker by removing the battery.

3. Navigating to Device Settings

You can also find your phone’s IMEI or MEID number in its settings. For Android devices, go to Settings > About Phone > Status > IMEI (or MEID) information. For iOS devices, navigate to Settings > General > About > IMEI (or MEID).

4. Inspecting the Original Packaging

If you still have access to your device’s original packaging, you may find a label with your mobile phone’s IMEI or MEID number on it. This label can often be found on one of the box’s side panels.

5. Contacting Your Wireless Carrier

Lastly, if you’re unable to locate your device’s IMEI or MEID number using any of these methods, you can reach out to your wireless carrier for assistance. Be prepared to provide them with information to verify your account, such as your phone number and account holder’s name.

Conclusion

Finding your mobile phone’s IMEI or MEID number is crucial for a variety of reasons, including device tracking, warranty claims, and general troubleshooting. By following these five methods – dialing the USSD code, checking the device’s back or battery compartment, navigating to device settings, inspecting the original packaging, or contacting your wireless carrier – you can locate your device’s unique identifier with ease.
