Step 1: Gather your ingredients

You will need:

– A large bag of plain, unsalted corn puff snacks (such as Cheetos)

– 1/4 cup vegetable oil

– 1/4 cup hot sauce (like Frank’s Red Hot or your preferred brand)

– 2 tablespoons chili powder

– 1 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1 teaspoon onion powder

– 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

– 1 teaspoon paprika

– Salt to taste

Step 2: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 3: In a small bowl, combine the vegetable oil and hot sauce. Mix well.

Step 4: In a separate bowl, combine the chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), and paprika. Mix well.

Step 5: Place the corn puff snacks into a large mixing bowl.

Step 6: Drizzle the oil and hot sauce mixture over the corn puffs, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Step 7: Sprinkle the spice mixture over the corn puffs, making sure they are evenly distributed.

Step 8: Gently toss the corn puffs with your hands or a large spoon until they are well-coated in both the oil mixture and spice blend.

Step 9: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use an oven-safe wire rack to promote even cooking.

Step 10: Spread the coated corn puffs onto the baking sheet in a single layer to ensure even baking.

Step 11: Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 10 minutes.

Step 12: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet. This helps to crisp up your homemade Hot Cheetos further.

Step 13: Taste your homemade Hot Cheetos and add more salt, if necessary.

Step 14: Transfer the cooled Hot Cheetos to an airtight container or resealable bag for storage. Enjoy your homemade Hot Cheetos as a fiery snack!

With these 14 simple steps, you now know how to make your very own batch of Hot Cheetos at home. Experiment with different spices and sauces to create new flavors and heat levels that cater to your taste buds. Happy snacking!
