How to Do Undercut Hair for Men

Introduction:

The undercut hairstyle has become a popular choice for men due to its versatility, style, and low-maintenance appeal. This edgy hairstyle features short sides and back with longer hair on top, creating a striking contrast that can be adapted to suit various face shapes and personal styles. To get started on your journey towards rocking the undercut, follow these simple steps.

Step 1: Choose Your Undercut Style

There are several undercut variations to choose from including the traditional disconnected undercut, the modern side-swept undercut, and the more subtle fade undercut. Research different options and consult with your hairstylist to select the best undercut style to suit your face shape, hair type, and personal preference.

Step 2: Gather Necessary Tools

To achieve a professional-looking undercut, make sure you have the following tools on hand:

– Hair clippers (with different guard sizes)

– Scissors

– Comb

– Hair trimmer (for clean edges)

– Mirror

Step 3: Begin by Trimming the Sides and Back

Attach the appropriate guard size onto your hair clippers to achieve your desired length for the sides and back of your head. Start at the bottom of your hairline and work upwards using an upward motion, ensuring that you maintain an even length as you trim.

Step 4: Create a Clean Disconnection Line

To create a clean and precise disconnection line between the top and sides of your hair, use a comb to separate the top section of hair away from the sides. Hold the comb horizontally against your scalp while trimming with scissors or a trimmer along this line.

Step 5: Trim the Top Section

With scissors or an adjustable clipper attachment, trim off excess length at the top of your head. Keep in mind that hair at this section should remain longer than on the sides and back to maintain the undercut’s signature look.

Step 6: Blend if Necessary

For a more seamless transition between the top and sides, use clippers with a smaller guard size to blend the areas touching the disconnection line. However, be cautious not to remove the stark contrast that characterizes the undercut.

Step 7: Style Your Undercut

Style the top section of your hair according to your preferences. You can opt for a side-swept look, a slicked-back style, or even experiment with more textured options. Apply a hair product like pomade, wax, or clay to hold your style in place throughout the day.

Step 8: Maintain Your Undercut

To keep your undercut looking fresh, schedule regular touch-ups every couple of weeks depending on your hair growth rate. This will allow you to maintain clean lines, an even length on the sides and back, and an overall polished appearance.

Conclusion:

The undercut hairstyle is an iconic choice that offers both style and ease for men looking for something unique yet practical. With these simple steps in hand, you’ll be on your way to rocking an impressive undercut that suits your individual flair. Just remember – practice makes perfect so don’t be afraid to experiment and refine your skills over time.
