1. Number Hunt: Hide numbers around the classroom or outdoor area and have the children search for them. Once found, they can say the number out loud and practice counting.

2. Counting Caterpillars: Create paper caterpillars with numbers on each body segment. The children can count the segments and practice ordering the caterpillars from smallest to largest.

3. Shape Scavenger Hunt: Give each child a shape template and have them search for objects that match the shape. They can then glue the objects onto the template and practice identifying shapes.

4. Number Line Hopscotch: Draw a number line on the floor or use number cards to create a hopscotch game. The children can practice hopping to the correct numbers and saying them aloud.

5. Counting Cookies: Use play cookies or real cookies to practice counting. The children can count the cookies as they place them on a plate and then enjoy eating them as a reward.

6. Addition Fish: Fill a sensory table or large container with water and plastic fish. Write numbers on the fish and have the children practice adding them together by scooping them out with a net.

7. Shape Sorting: Provide various objects or pictures of objects and have the children sort them into different shape categories. They can discuss the attributes of each shape as they sort.

8. Number Bingo: Create bingo cards with numbers and call out random numbers for the children to find and mark on their cards. The first one to get a row or fill their card wins.

9. Measurement Walk: Take the children on a walk and have them measure different objects
using non-standard units like their footsteps or hand spans. They can compare sizes and discuss measurement concepts.

10. Counting Jars: Fill jars with small objects like buttons, beads, or coins and have the children count how many are in each jar. They can write the numbers on labels and practice reading them.

11. Pattern Block Puzzles: Provide pattern blocks and challenge the children to create different shapes and patterns using the blocks. They can discuss the attributes of each shape and pattern.

12. Number Memory Game: Create pairs of number cards and place them face down. The children can take turns flipping two cards and trying to match the numbers. This game helps with number recognition and memory skills.

13. Ten Frame Bingo: Create ten frame bingo cards and call out numbers. The children can place counters or tokens on their ten frames to represent the called number. The first one to fill their ten frame wins.

14. Number Line Beanbag Toss: Draw a number line on the ground and assign point values to different numbers. The children can take turns tossing beanbags and adding up their scores.

These 14 kindergarten math games are not only educational but also fun for young learners. By incorporating hands-on activities and games, children can develop a solid foundation in basic math skills while enjoying themselves from day one.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
