3 Ways to Drink SUPREP Without Throwing Up

Introduction:

SUPREP is a bowel preparation medicine that is commonly prescribed to patients who need to undergo colonoscopy. While it is very effective in cleaning out the colon, its taste can be quite unpleasant, causing some people to vomit. To ensure the effectiveness of your bowel preparation and minimize discomfort, we have come up with three strategies to help you drink SUPREP without throwing up.

1. Chill the Solution

One of the simplest ways to make SUPREP more palatable and reduce your odds of vomiting is chilling it. Refrigerate the mixed solution for about 30 to 60 minutes before drinking, as this helps to dull the strong taste. You can also consider adding some ice cubes to the solution if you prefer it extra cold. Make sure not to dilute the solution, though, as doing so will affect its effectiveness.

2. Use Flavor Enhancers

While you should never mix SUPREP with any liquid other than water, you can still use flavor enhancers to make it more bearable. Add a few drops of your preferred flavor extract (such as lemon or lime) into the solution once it’s mixed with water. Alternatively, consider drinking a flavored clear liquid (like a sports drink or apple juice) right after taking a sip of SUPREP – just be sure these drinks do not contain any red or purple coloring, as they might interfere with the colonoscopy results.

3. Drink in Small Sips and Distract Yourself

It’s essential not to chug down SUPREP quickly because doing so will only increase your chances of vomiting. Instead, take small sips and give yourself time to adjust between each mouthful. You can also distract yourself by watching TV, listening to music or talking to a friend while sipping on the solution. Taking your mind off what you’re drinking will make it easier for you to consume the required amount without feeling nauseated.

Conclusion:

Undergoing a colonoscopy can be uncomfortable, but the procedure is essential for early detection and prevention of colon-related health issues. By using these three methods to make drinking SUPREP more tolerable, you can help ensure a successful and thorough bowel prep. Always remember to follow your doctor’s instructions carefully and reach out to them if you have any questions or concerns.
