Introduction:

The French twist is a timeless and elegant hairstyle that has been a popular choice for formal events and everyday wear alike. Whether you’re heading to prom, your best friend’s wedding, or just want to update your daily style, French twists are easy to create and can be worn in various ways. In this article, we will showcase three ways to French twist hair, so you can choose the one that’s perfect for you!

1. Classic French Twist

a) Start with dry, brushed hair. If you have fine or slippery hair, use a bit of texturizing spray for better grip.

b) Gather your hair towards the back of your head as if you were creating a low ponytail.

c) Hold the base of your ponytail with one hand while twisting it counterclockwise with the other.

d) Tuck the end of the twisted hair under the twist and keep tucking until it’s secure against your scalp.

e) Use bobby pins or hairpins to secure the twist along its length. To ensure it holds firmly, insert these pins into the twist horizontally.

f) Hide any imperfections or flyaways using hairspray and a comb.

2. French Twist Ponytail

a) Begin with dry, brushed hair. Apply some texturizing spray if your hair is fine or slippery.

b) Create two sections from ear to ear through the top of your head. Clip or tie the front section away.

c) From the remaining bottom section, create a low ponytail at the nape of your neck using an elastic band.

d) Unclip or untie the front section, then gather it back over the top of your head like a half-updo.

e) Twist this top section tightly around itself until it forms a neat twist covering just above your ponytail base.

f) Tuck the ends of the twist into the ponytail and secure with bobby pins or hairpins.

g) Hold everything in place with hairspray.

3. French Twist Updo with Side Swept Bangs

a) Begin with dry, brushed hair and part it to one side for the side swept bangs.

b) Pull back the remainder of your hair on the larger section as if you were creating a low ponytail.

c) Twist your hair counterclockwise until it forms a vertical twist.

d) Tuck the ends under the twist and secure it along its length using bobby pins or hairpins.

e) Use a comb and hairspray to smooth any imperfections or flyaways.

f) Encourage the side-swept bangs with a few wisps of hair pulled out for a softer, more romantic appearance.

Conclusion:

With these three ways to French twist hair, you can confidently rock this timeless and chic hairstyle at your next special event, or add some sophistication to your everyday look. Practice makes perfect, so don’t be afraid to experiment and find the method that suits your unique style best! Happy twisting!
