If you find your Chromebook slowing down or encountering issues, performing a reset can often help solve the problem. Fortunately, resetting your Chromebook is a quick and simple process that takes under a minute. In this article, we will walk you through the steps on how to reset your Chromebook with ease.

Step 1: Sign Out of Your Account

Before you begin the reset process, make sure that you are signed out of your Google account. To do this, click on the bottom right corner of the screen where your profile picture is displayed. Then, click on the “Sign out” option.

Step 2: Initiate Reset

After signing out, press and hold “Ctrl,” “Alt,” and “Shift,” then press “R” to open up the reset page. This shortcut brings up the Powerwash prompt where you can start the process of resetting your Chromebook.

Step 3: Reset Your Chromebook

Once you’ve initiated the Powerwash, you’ll see an option that says “Reset.” Click on this button to begin resetting your device. This process generally takes less than a minute to complete, and your Chromebook will restart automatically when it’s finished.

Step 4: Set Up Your Device

When your device restarts, follow the prompts to choose a language, keyboard layout, and network. Enter your Google account information to sign in and regain access to all of your files and settings saved in Google’s cloud.

And that’s it! By following these simple steps, you can quickly reset your Chromebook in under a minute. After performing a Powerwash reset, you should notice improved performance and functionality from your device.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
