Lost phone? Check out these 4 ways Alexa can find it for you

We have all been there – frantically searching for our misplaced phones, turning the house upside down in a panic. Fortunately, for those with an Amazon Echo device or access to the Alexa app, finding your lost phone has never been easier. Here are four ways Alexa can help you locate your missing device.

1. Use the built-in “Find My Phone” feature

Alexa comes with a pre-installed “Find My Phone” feature, allowing you to quickly locate your lost phone. To use this function, simply say, “Alexa, find my phone,” and Alexa will begin calling your registered mobile number. Once you hear your phone ringing, follow the sound until you find it.

2. Set up the “Alexa Where’s My Phone” skill

If you want a more personalized experience in finding your phone, try setting up the “Alexa Where’s My Phone” skill. This user-created skill is available on the Alexa Skills Store and can be enabled by saying, “Alexa, enable ‘Where’s My Phone’ skill.” Once set up, when you ask Alexa to locate your phone, she will call your number and deliver a message tailored specifically for you.

3. Link Alexa with Tile

For those who own a Tile Bluetooth tracker, combining it with the power of Alexa can make finding your lost phone a breeze. First, enable the Tile skill on your Alexa device by saying, “Alexa, enable Tile.” Next, follow the on-screen instructions to link both accounts. Once done, asking Alexa to locate your phone will cause the Tile attached to it to play a loud tune until you find it.

4. Use IFTTT integration with Alexa

IFTTT (If This Then That) is a powerful tool that connects different apps and services by creating custom “applets.” By integrating IFTTT with your Alexa device, you can enable the “Find my Phone” applet that will make your missing phone ring when you ask for Alexa’s help. To set this up, go to the IFTTT website or app, search for the “Find my Phone” applet, and follow the instructions to connect your phone to your Echo device.

In conclusion, Alexa has proven to be a valuable assistant in not only answering questions and controlling smart home devices but also in helping you find your lost phone. With these four methods at your disposal, the days of turning your home upside down looking for your phone are over. So next time you find yourself in this predicament, just ask Alexa for help!
