Reasons You Shouldn’t Use Apple Notes

Apple Notes is a popular notetaking app pre-installed on all iOS and macOS devices. While it is an intuitive and convenient option for many, there are some reasons why you should consider using a different notetaking app instead.

1. Limited Organization Features

Apple Notes offers only basic organization features, such as the ability to create folders and move notes between them. However, there is no option to tag notes, prioritize them in any way, or create subfolders.

If you’re someone who needs to keep track of many notes, you may find it difficult to quickly locate what you need in Apple Notes.

2. No Third-Party Integrations

While Apple Notes integrates seamlessly with other Apple apps and services, such as iCloud and Siri, it doesn’t offer any third-party integrations. This means that you can’t easily link your notes to other productivity or organization tools you may be using, such as Trello or Evernote.

For those who rely on a range of tools to stay organized, this could be a deal-breaker.

3. Limited Collaboration Features

Apple Notes offers some collaboration features, such as the ability to share notes with others and make changes in real-time. However, these features are limited compared to other notetaking apps like Google Docs or Microsoft OneNote.

For example, you can’t tag other users in notes or leave inline comments, which can make it challenging to communicate effectively with collaborators.

4. Limited Formatting Options

While Apple Notes offers some basic formatting options, such as bold, italic, and underline, the options are quite limited. If you’re looking to create detailed, well-formatted notes, you may find it difficult to do so in Apple Notes.

5. No Web App

Unlike many other notetaking apps, Apple Notes does not offer a web app. This means that you can only access your notes on an Apple device, which can be limiting if you don’t have access to one.
