If your Windows computer is giving you a hard time and refuses to start up normally, then it might be time to boot it up in safe mode. Safe mode is a special mode in Windows that allows you to troubleshoot and solve any issues that might be causing your computer to malfunction. However, if you’re having trouble getting your computer to start in safe mode, then don’t worry as we’ve got you covered. In this article, we will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to force Windows to restart in safe mode.

Method 1: Using System Configuration

The first method we’ll be discussing involves using System Configuration to boot up your computer in safe mode. Here’s how:

Step 1: Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard simultaneously to open the Run command box.

Step 2: In the Run command box, type in “msconfig” without the quotes and hit Enter.

Step 3: In the System Configuration window that appears, click on the Boot tab.

Step 4: Under the Boot options, click on the Safe Boot checkbox (make sure that the Minimal option is selected).

Step 5: Click on Apply and then click on OK.

Step 6: A prompt will appear asking if you want to restart your computer, click on Restart.

Step 7: Your computer will now restart in safe mode.

Method 2: Using Shift + Restart

The second method we’ll be discussing is using Shift + Restart to restart your computer in safe mode. Here’s how:

Step 1: Click on the Start menu and then click on the Power icon.

Step 2: Press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard and then click on Restart.

Step 3: Your computer will now restart in the Windows Recovery Environment.

Step 4: In the Windows Recovery Environment, click on Troubleshoot.

Step 5: Next, click on Advanced options.

Step 6: Now, click on Startup Settings.

Step 7: Click on Restart.

Step 8: Your computer will now restart and display a list of options.

Step 9: Press the 4 key on your keyboard to boot up your computer in safe mode.

Final Thoughts

And there you have it, two easy methods to force Windows to restart in safe mode. Regardless of which method you choose, just make sure that you follow the steps correctly to avoid any issues. Restarting your computer in safe mode is one of the best ways to troubleshoot and fix any issues you might be having with your Windows computer. So, the next time your computer acts up, don’t panic, just follow these easy steps and you’ll be back up and running in no time.
