1. Enable Dark Mode

Dark mode is not only easier on the eyes, but it also helps save battery life on devices with OLED screens. To enable dark mode in Android Messages for web, click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner and select ‘Settings.’ From there, toggle the ‘Enable dark theme’ option.

2. Use Keyboard Shortcuts

Speed up your messaging experience by using keyboard shortcuts. Press ‘C’ to compose a new message, ‘Esc’ to close a conversation, and use the up and down arrow keys to navigate through your messages. You can access the full list of shortcuts by clicking on the three-dot menu and selecting ‘Keyboard shortcuts.’

3. Send GIFs, Emojis, and Stickers

Express yourself with more than just text. Click on the ‘+’ button next to the message input field to access your options for sending GIFs, emojis, and stickers in Android Messages for web. Search for the perfect image or type ‘:emoji_name:’ (for example, ‘’) to insert an emoji directly into your message.

4. Mute Notifications

When you’re in a meeting or simply need some peace and quiet, mute notifications from Android Messages for web easily by clicking on the bell icon next to the three-dot menu in the top right corner. This will disable notifications for a set amount of time; click again to customize or unmute.

5. Customize Chat Colors

Make your Android Messages for web experience more personalized by changing chat colors. Navigate to a conversation, click on the three-dot menu to access ‘Details,’ then select ‘Customize chat.’ From here, choose from several preset color themes or create your own.

6. Archive Conversations

If you want to declutter your inbox without losing important conversations, archiving is a great option. To archive a conversation in Android Messages for web, right-click on the chat or click on the three-dot menu within the conversation, then choose ‘Archive.’ To access archived chats, click on the three-dot menu on the main screen and select ‘Archived.’

By following these tips and tricks, you can make your Android Messages for web experience more enjoyable, efficient, and personalized. Happy messaging!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
