5 Ways to Serve Sangria

Sangria, the fruity wine-based cocktail from Spain, is a popular drink choice for hot summer days. Whether you’re planning a lively party or hosting a relaxing evening with friends, serving sangria is sure to please your guests and help create a fun and convivial atmosphere. To keep your sangria game strong and fresh, we’re offering five creative ways to serve this classic concoction.

1. Traditional Red Sangria

You can’t go wrong with the well-loved red sangria. This classic recipe involves combining red wine, brandy, and freshly cut fruit – usually oranges, lemons, and apples. Mix all the ingredients in a large pitcher or bowl and refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours to allow the flavors to blend nicely. Serve over ice in individual glasses and garnish with more fruit or edible flowers.

2. White Wine Sangria

For a lighter alternative, try making white sangria using white wine instead of red wine. White wine sangrias are perfect for those who prefer a more delicate flavor profile or wish to offer variations to their guests. Combine white wine, orange liqueur (such as Cointreau), and a selection of fresh fruits like sliced peaches, pears, or grapes. Chill for at least 3 hours and serve over ice.

3. Sparkling Sangria

Add a fizzy touch to your celebration by serving sparkling sangria! Choose either red or white wine as your base and top it up with a generous splash of sparkling water or soda right before serving. This will not only make your sangria bubbly but will also help dilute the alcohol content – so guests can savor the drink without worrying about overindulging.

4. Frozen Sangria

Turn your traditional sangria into a frosty beverage guaranteed to cool off even the hottest summer day. Blend your choice of red or white sangria with crushed ice in a blender until it reaches a slushy consistency. Pour into chilled glasses and garnish with fruit or mint for a deliciously cold treat.

5. Sangria Popsicles

Add a playful twist to your summertime event by offering sangria in popsicle form. Simply fill popsicle molds with your favorite sangria recipe, leaving some room for the liquid to expand when freezing. Add fruit slices and stick in popsicle sticks before placing the molds in the freezer. Once frozen, your guests will enjoy the novelty of sipping their sangria from a handheld treat.

Final Thoughts

Sangria is ideal for summertime gatherings due to its versatility and vibrant flavors. Experiment with these five different serving styles to delight the taste buds of your guests and keep your entertaining game as fresh as the fruity beverage itself!
