5 Ways to Identify a Narcissist

1. Excessive Self-Admiration and Vanity

Narcissists have an inflated sense of self-importance and constantly seek attention and praise. They may continuously talk about their achievements, appearance, or skills with a sense of entitlement and pride. They may also exaggerate their accomplishments or compare themselves favorably to others.

2. Lack of Empathy

One key sign of a narcissist is their inability to empathize with the feelings or needs of other people. This can manifest in various ways, such as dismissive behavior, neglecting other’s emotions, or being unable to share genuine compliments.

3. Exploitative Behavior

Narcissists often have a pattern of exploiting others for personal gain or success. This manipulation may include taking advantage of someone’s vulnerabilities, using guilt or pressure tactics, or feigning help to gain control over another person’s actions.

4. Constant Need for Validation

Narcissists crave validation and recognition for their achievements, no matter how minor they may be. They often take any opportunity to showcase their successes and may become defensive or agitated if they do not receive the validation they desire.

5. Sensitivity to Criticism

Despite their inflated self-esteem, narcissists can be hypersensitive to criticism, no matter how constructive. They become defensive or angry when faced with any negative feedback, even when it’s well-intended, which makes it difficult to address any conflicts effectively.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
