Dealing with annoying or harmful emails can be frustrating, particularly when they keep flooding your inbox. Fortunately, iPhones offer multiple options to block unwanted email addresses. In this article, we discuss five ways you can block email addresses on your iPhone to maintain a clutter-free inbox.

1. Block Emails from Mail App

The easiest way to block an email address is directly from the Mail app on your iPhone. Here’s how:

– Open the Mail app and navigate to the email you want to block.

– Tap on the sender’s name or email address at the top of the message.

– In the dropdown menu, select “Block this Contact.”

– Confirm by tapping “Block this Contact” again in the pop-up window that appears.

2. Block Contacts in Settings

If you want to block emails from a specific contact, follow these steps:

– Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

– Scroll down and tap “Mail.”

– Under “Threading,” tap “Blocked.”

– Tap “Add New” and search for the contact you wish to block.

– Select the contact to add them to your blocked list.

3. Create a Rule in iCloud Mail

For users who manage their emails with iCloud Mail, you can create a rule that automatically directs unwanted messages to trash:

– Sign in to iCloud.com on a computer and open Mail.

– Click the gear icon (Settings) at the bottom left corner.

– Select “Rules.”

– Click “Add a Rule” and set specific criteria for blocking an email address or messages containing certain words.

– Choose “Move to Trash” as the action and click “Done.”

4. Use Third-party Email Apps

Many third-party email apps offer blocking features that can help filter out unwanted emails. Outlook, Spark, and Gmail are a few popular choices available on iOS. Each app has its own method for blocking email addresses but generally involves accessing the sender’s information and selecting a block or opt-out option.

5. Use External Spam Filters

If you’re still experiencing an excessive amount of spam, consider using an external spam filter. There are numerous apps available, such as MailWasher, SaneBox, and SpamDrain, which can help you manage and block unwanted emails. After installing a spam filter, follow the app’s instructions for blocking specific email addresses or setting up rules for filtering unwanted emails.

By implementing one or more of these methods to block email addresses, you can take control of your inbox and reduce the number of unwanted emails on your iPhone.
