5 Of Best Dark Colors To Paint Small Rooms, As Chosen By Designers

Dark, deep colors have the paradoxical ability to give small rooms an impression of greater space when used correctly. Renowned interior designers suggest that some shades can create an illusion of more expansive walls and higher ceilings. Here are five designer-chosen best dark colors to use in small rooms:

1.Midnight Blue: This color has a deep, rich quality that mimics the night sky. It provides a crisp backdrop, allowing other elements in the room to stand out, while also giving off a substantial sense of depth. This can make the walls appear to recede, especially when paired with well-placed lighting.

2.Charcoal Gray: Charcoal gray is a sophisticated color offering an urban feel to a small space. It can give the room a contemporary edge, and when it’s applied on walls and even the ceiling, it blurs the boundaries of the space, creating an endless plane that makes it difficult to tell where walls end and the ceiling begins.

3.Eggplant Purple: A rich eggplant purple envelops a room in warmth and elegance. Light plays beautifully off dark purple tones, providing a luxurious atmosphere that can make a small room feel like an intimate, cozy den.

4.Hunter Green: Deep greens are reminiscent of nature and have a grounding effect. Hunter green creates a luxurious and enveloping sensation without overpowering a space when used as an accent wall or throughout the whole room. It pairs especially well with natural wood tones and metallic accents

5.Navy Ink: Much like midnight blue but with a slightly more vibrant hue, navy ink helps in creating depth, especially when used with contrasting trim or in a high-gloss finish. It reflects just enough light to make the room seem larger than it is without feeling too closed in.

These colors have been chosen by designers for their ability to play tricks on our visual perception, turning claustrophobic spaces into cozy nooks with perceived extra volume and height.
