Fans of the opulent period drama “The Gilded Age” often find themselves searching for more shows that capture the same intricate storytelling, lavish costumes, and high societal drama of the late 19th century. If you’re one of them, look no further. Here are five series that will transport you back in time to different gilded eras with their own twists and tales.

1. “Downton Abbey” – Created by Julian Fellowes, who also created “The Gilded Age,” this celebrated British series explores the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants from the post-Edwardian era through the 1920s. The show offers a similar blend of personal intrigue and historical events, with enough upstairs/downstairs drama to satisfy any period piece enthusiast.

2. “Bridgerton” – For those who enjoy the societal spectacles of high-class matchmaking and scandals, “Bridgerton” is a must-watch. The series is set in Regency-era England and revolves around the Bridgerton family as they navigate London’s competitive marriage market. It’s known for its vibrant costumes and diverse casting.

3. “Poldark” – Based on novels by Winston Graham, this romantic saga follows Ross Poldark as he returns to Cornwall after the American Revolutionary War, only to find his former life in shambles. It’s ideal for viewers who relish a rugged backdrop blended with romance and social upheaval.

4. “Belgravia” – Another Julian Fellowes creation, “Belgravia” starts on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo, then jumps decades forward to unravel secrets among London’s elite that trace back to that significant night. It delivers suspense and class-bound conflict within an intricately woven narrative.

5. “The Crown” – This critically acclaimed Netflix original chronicles the reign of Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding in 1947 through modern times. Though set later than “The Gilded Age,” it offers another deep dive into high-society life, powerful families, and political intrigue played out against significant historical moments.

Each of these series offers its own flavor of dramatic storytelling against a richly detailed historical backdrop. If you’re looking for shows that conjure up a world of elegance and drama akin to ‘The Gilded Age,’ these selections are sure not to disappoint.
