5 Best Fixes for Podcast App Notifications Not Working on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Podcasts have become a staple in our daily media consumption, and with Apple devices leading the charge in mobile technology, many users rely on the Podcast app for their daily dose of audio content. However, it’s not uncommon to encounter issues with notifications not working as expected on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Here are the five best fixes that you can try to get back on track with your favorite shows.

1. Check Notification Settings:

On your iPhone or iPad, go to “Settings,” find “Notifications,” and then select the Podcast app. Make sure that “Allow Notifications” is turned on. For Mac, open System Preferences, click “Notifications,” select “Podcasts,” and ensure that the “Allow Notifications” option is selected.

2. Update Your Device:

Outdated software can lead to functionality issues. On your iPhone or iPad, go to “Settings,” tap on “General,” then “Software Update” to see if there’s an available update. On Mac, click on the Apple icon in the menu bar, select “System Preferences,” then click “Software Update.”

3. Refresh Your Podcasts Feed:

Open the Podcast app on your device and pull down on the list of podcasts to refresh your subscriptions and check for new episodes.

4. Restart Your Device:

Sometimes a simple restart can resolve notification glitches. On an iPhone or iPad without a home button, press and hold either volume button and the side button until you see the power off slider. Drag the slider to turn off your device completely before turning it back on. For devices with a home button, hold down the top (or side) button until you see the slider appear. For Mac, click on the Apple menu and choose ‘Restart.’

5. Reinstall the Podcast App:

If all else fails, try deleting and reinstalling the Podcast app. Touch and hold the app on your home screen until it jiggles, tap ‘X’ to delete it, then go to the App Store to reinstall it. For Mac, drag the Podcasts app from the Applications folder to Trash can (or right-click and choose ‘Move to Trash’), then reinstall it from the App Store.

There’s nothing worse than missing out on new episodes of your favorite podcasts due to notification issues. With these tips in hand, you’ll be back in sync with all of your top shows in no time!
