Introduction:

Galaxy glow in the dark jars have become a popular DIY project for both kids and adults. These mesmerizing jars replicate the beauty of galaxies by combining vibrant colors, glitter, and glow-in-the-dark elements. In this article, we will explore four different methods for creating your very own galaxy glow in the dark jar.

1. Paint and Cotton Method

Materials:

– Mason jar

– Acrylic paint (glow-in-the-dark or regular)

– Cotton balls

– Glitter

– Wooden stirrer or spoon

Instructions:

1. Stretch and fluff the cotton balls to create a wispy texture.

2. Mix acrylic paint with a small amount of water to create a thinner consistency.

3. Add a layer of cotton at the bottom of the mason jar.

4. Pour some thinned paint over the cotton layers, making sure it spreads evenly.

5. Sprinkle glitter over the painted cotton layer.

6. Repeat these steps until you reach the top of the jar, alternating between paint colors for an awe-inspiring galaxy effect.

2. Water and Glow Sticks Method

Materials:

– Mason jar

– Glow sticks (multiple colors)

– Water

– Glitter or diamond confetti

Instructions:

1. Fill your mason jar halfway with water.

2. Snap and shake your glow sticks to activate their glow.

3. Cut off one end of your glow sticks and carefully pour the contents into your jar while swirling it around.

4. Quickly sprinkle glitter or diamond confetti into the water, allowing it to mix with the glowing liquid.

5. Tightly screw on the lid and shake well for best results.

3. Glow Powder & Mod Podge Method

Materials:

– Mason jar

– Mod Podge

– Glow powder (multiple colors)

– Glitter

– Paintbrush

Instructions:

1. Mix together equal parts Mod Podge and glow powder in a small container.

2. Using a paintbrush, apply the mixture to the inside of your mason jar, using varying colors in random patterns.

3. While the mixture is still wet, sprinkle glitter throughout the jar.

4. Wait for the mixture to completely dry before putting on the lid and enjoying your glowing galaxy jar.

4. Tissue Paper and LED Light Method

Materials:

– Mason jar

– Colored tissue paper

– LED tea light or fairy lights

– Mod Podge

– Glitter (optional)

– Paintbrush

Instructions:

1. Tear up colored tissue paper into small pieces.

2. Using a paintbrush, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge on the inside of your mason jar.

3. Stick the tissue paper onto the Mod Podge and smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles.

4. Apply another layer of Mod Podge over the tissue paper to seal it in place.

5. Add some glitter if desired by sprinkling it over the wet Mod Podge.

6. Allow everything to dry completely before placing an LED tea light or fairy lights inside your galaxy glow-in-the-dark jar.

Conclusion:

All four methods to create galaxy glow-in-the-dark jars are simple to accomplish and provide stunning results. Choose your favorite method, gather your materials, and enjoy crafting a unique and magical piece that will brighten up any room in your home!
