4 Ways to Highlight Your Hair Naturally

Are you looking to add some flair to your hair with highlights? There’s no need to rush to the salon or damage your tresses with chemicals! Instead, try these four natural ways to highlight your hair at home.

1. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is an age-old remedy for natural highlights. The citric acid in lemon juice acts as a gentle bleach, gradually lightening the hair when combined with sunlight. Follow these simple steps:

– Squeeze the juice from one fresh lemon.

– Mix equal parts of lemon juice and water in a spray bottle.

– Spritz the solution on the sections of hair you want to highlight.

– Spend some time outdoors, allowing the sun to naturally lighten your locks.

– Rinse your hair and condition it well afterward.

Keep in mind that lemon juice works best on light-colored hair and may not show immediate results on darker tones. Patience is key here!

2. Honey

Honey is a natural lightening agent that doubles as a nourishing treatment for your hair. The hydrogen peroxide present in honey helps to lighten strands while keeping them moisturized. Here’s how to use honey for highlights:

– Combine 1/4 cup of honey with 1/4 cup of distilled water or apple cider vinegar.

– Apply the mixture to damp hair, focusing on areas you’d like to highlight.

– Wrap your hair in plastic wrap or a shower cap.

– Allow the mixture to sit for at least 60 minutes before rinsing it out and shampooing.

3. Chamomile Tea

Chamomile is known for its natural bleaching properties, making it perfect for creating subtle highlights. Follow these steps for all-over lighter locks or targeted highlights:

– Steep two chamomile tea bags in boiling water and let it cool completely.

– Apply the cooled chamomile tea throughout your damp hair.

– Leave the tea on your hair for an hour or overnight, depending on the desired intensity.

– Rinse out the chamomile and style your hair as usual.

4. Cinnamon

Believe it or not, cinnamon can give your hair a natural sun-kissed look while improving hair health. The sweet spice gently and gradually lightens hair over time without causing damage.

– Create a cinnamon hair mask by combining 2 tablespoons of cinnamon powder and 2 tablespoons of honey with enough conditioner to create a smooth paste.

– Apply the mask evenly throughout your damp hair, section by section.

– Cover your hair with plastic wrap or a shower cap, leaving it on for at least two hours or even overnight for greater results.

– Remove the cap and rinse out the mixture, following with shampoo and conditioner.

These four approaches to natural highlights are not only cost-effective but also gentle on your hair. With just a few ingredients and some time, you can achieve beautiful sun-kissed locks without the harmful side effects of chemicals. So go ahead, experiment with one of these techniques to find the perfect natural highlights for you!
