3 Ways to Play with LEGOs

LEGOs have been a popular and iconic toy for children and adults alike for decades. With their endless possibilities for creativity and fun, it’s no wonder they’ve remained a staple in homes and playrooms around the world. But sometimes, you might find yourself stuck in a building rut, unsure of how to shake up your LEGO play. That’s where these three methods to play with LEGOs come in – they’ll help you take your LEGO game to new heights.

1. Create Collaborative Masterpieces

One of the most enjoyable aspects of playing with LEGOs is sharing the experience with friends or family. Collaborating on a LEGO project requires teamwork, communication, and compromise – skills that translate well both in and out of the building arena.

To try this method, gather a group of builders and choose a central theme or structure to work on together. You can either assign specific roles (such as architect, builder, or supplier) to each person or let everyone contribute ideas freely. The key here is learning to listen to each other’s opinions while working together to create something amazing.

2. Experiment with Stop-Motion Animation

LEGOs aren’t just for static builds – they can also be used as a medium for storytelling through stop-motion animation. Stop-motion animation is a film-making technique where objects are physically manipulated in small increments between individual frames of film so that they appear to move when the sequence is played back.

To start, download or purchase a stop-motion app on your smartphone or tablet, such as Stop Motion Studio or iMotion. Then set up a scene with your LEGO characters and structures. Use your imagination – from epic battles to lighthearted comedy skits – the possibilities are endless! Snap photos frame by frame as you move the characters fractionally and adjust elements within the scene. When you’re finished, use the app to play back your stop-motion masterpiece.

3. Participate in LEGO Challenges

For a little friendly competition, try participating in a LEGO challenge. These challenges offer prompts or guidelines that inspire you to think outside the box while building with your bricks.

There are plenty of LEGO challenges available online, many of which are posted on social media platforms or blogs dedicated to all things LEGO. These challenges can range from timed speed builds to topics like designing the most interesting bridge or constructing a scene from your favorite movie. Choose one that piques your interest and get ready to put your building skills to the test!

In conclusion, there are countless ways to play with LEGOs beyond simply creating standalone structures. By engaging in collaborative projects, experimenting with stop-motion animation, or participating in LEGO challenges, you’ll unlock new methods of play and reignite your passion for these timeless building blocks. Happy building!
