3 Ways to Peel a Kiwi

Introduction

Kiwis are a small, vibrant fruit that are packed with nutrients and flavor. However, the fuzzy brown exterior can be a hindrance to those who want to enjoy the delicious green interior. In this article, we will explore three different methods for peeling a kiwi so you can easily incorporate this fruit into your daily diet.

1. Using a Spoon

The spoon method is simple and effective in removing the skin without causing too much damage to the fruit itself.

To use this method:

– Cut off both ends of the kiwi.

– Hold the kiwi with one hand and insert the edge of a spoon between the flesh and skin.

– Gently slide the spoon around the kiwi, following its curvature. Make sure to maintain contact between the spoon and skin to avoid cutting into the fruit.

– Once you have made a full circle, remove the spoon, and the skin should easily peel off.

2. Peeling with a Knife

Peeling a kiwifruit using a knife involves more precision but is just as effective in removing the outer layer:

– Cut off both ends of the kiwi.

– Hold the kiwi securely in one hand in an upright position.

– Using a sharp paring knife, carefully cut down through the skin while following naturally curved shape of the fruit.

– Repeat this process around the entire kiwi, ensuring not to cut too deep into its flesh.

– Once all cuts are complete, use your fingers or backside of paring knife to gently remove skin.

3. The “Cut-and-Roll” Method

For those who want an alternative approach without using utensils, try using the “cut-and-roll” method:

– Cut off both ends of the kiwi.

– Make a small incision through the skin along one side of fruit.

– Place thumbs inside incision and gently apply pressure to roll the skin away from fruit, following the kiwi’s natural curves.

– Peel back skin, using your thumbs to separate it from the flesh. The skin should easily slide off as you proceed.

Conclusion

Each of these methods presents an efficient and simple way to peel a kiwi, making it easy for you to enjoy this tasty fruit. Just choose the technique that suits your preferences and skill level, and enjoy the nutritious and delicious benefits of kiwifruit!
