3 Ways to Make Hair Color Fade

If you’ve ever dyed your hair and ended up with a color that isn’t quite right, or if you’re just looking to change up your look, you might want to know some ways to make your current hair color fade faster. Here are three methods that can help you get the job done.

1. Wash with Clarifying Shampoo

One of the simplest and most effective ways to make hair color fade faster is by using a clarifying shampoo. These shampoos are designed to remove buildup and residue from hair products, so they can also help remove excess hair dye.

To use a clarifying shampoo, simply apply it to wet hair, work it into a lather, and then rinse thoroughly. Be sure to follow up with a deep conditioner to keep your hair from becoming too dry or damaged. Repeat this process every time you wash your hair until you achieve the desired level of color fading.

2. Use a Vitamin C Treatment

Vitamin C is known for its ability to help lighten hair color by breaking down the dye molecules in your hair. To create a vitamin C treatment, mix 1-2 crushed vitamin C tablets with enough water or shampoo to form a paste. Apply the paste to your damp hair, making sure to cover all colored areas evenly. Allow the mixture to sit for 20-30 minutes before rinsing out.

For an extra color-fading boost, try adding some lemon juice or baking soda (but not both) into the mix; this will further increase the effectiveness of the treatment. Do this once a week until your desired level of fading is achieved.

3. Try DIY Baking Soda Paste

Baking soda is another household item that can help you fade unwanted hair dye without causing too much damage. To create a DIY baking soda paste for fading hair color, mix equal parts baking soda and water (or even better, clarifying shampoo) until a thick paste forms.

Apply this paste to damp hair, focusing on the areas you want to fade the most. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes before rinsing out thoroughly. As with any harsh treatment, make sure to follow up with a deep conditioner to minimize any potential hair damage.

In conclusion, if you’re looking to fade your current hair color, try using one of these methods to speed up the process. Combined with patience and time, your hair will be ready for a new look in no time.
