Introduction:

Gymnastic rings are an excellent addition to any outdoor workout space, providing a versatile and effective way to build strength and flexibility. In this article, we’ll explore three different methods for hanging gymnastic rings outside. With several options to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect setup for your needs.

1. Using Tree Branches:

One of the most natural ways to hang gymnastic rings outside is by utilizing sturdy tree branches. This method requires minimal equipment and can be easily adjusted as needed. Here’s how you can hang your gymnastic rings on tree branches:

A. Choose a sturdy and healthy tree with a strong branch that can support the weight of your entire body.

B. Ensure that the branch is at least 8-10 feet off the ground to allow for sufficient clearance while exercising.

C. Use two lengthy straps with adjustable buckles (included with most gymnastic ring sets) to secure the rings around the branch, making sure they are equal in length and properly balanced.

D. Test the rings by applying your body weight gradually before you begin any exercises.

2. Installing Permanent Hardware:

If you prefer a more permanent solution, installing hardware specifically designed for gymnastic rings can be an excellent choice. Here’s how you can install dedicated hardware for your outdoor gymnastic rings:

A. Find a suitable location such as wooden beams or posts on a patio or deck. Make sure they’re strong and stable enough to withstand your body weight.

B. Purchase anchoring hardware like eye bolts or heavy-duty hooks from your local hardware store.

C. Drill pilot holes (if required) into your chosen support structure, then screw in the eye bolts or hooks securely.

D. Attach carabiners (included with most gymnastic ring sets) or S-hooks through each eye bolt or hook, and secure them to the straps of your rings.

E. Adjust the strap length and test the stability before performing any exercises.

3. Using a Portable Pull-Up Bar or Stand:

A portable pull-up bar or stand is another convenient method to hang gymnastic rings outside, especially if you don’t have access to a suitable tree or the hardware required for permanent installation. Follow these steps to hang your rings on a portable pull-up bar or stand:

A. Select an outdoor space with enough clearance for your portable pull-up bar or stand, making sure it’s on level and stable ground.

B. Set up your pull-up bar or stand according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

C. Use carabiners or S-hooks (included with most gymnastic ring sets) to attach the straps to the horizontal top bar of your pull-up stand.

D. Adjust the strap length to ensure both rings are balanced and at the correct height for your workout routine.

E. Test the entire setup by gradually applying your body weight before beginning any exercises.

Conclusion:

Hanging gymnastic rings outdoors can be accomplished using various methods that cater to different preferences and environments. Whether you opt for a natural approach by hanging them from tree branches, installing permanent hardware, or using a portable pull-up bar or stand, each method provides unique benefits and convenience. Assessing factors like availability of resources, ease of use, and stability will help you find the best solution for hanging gym-rings outside and enjoy effective workouts in the great outdoors.
