3 Ways to Frizz Your Hair

Many of us spend countless hours and money on various haircare products, tools, and treatments to keep our hair smooth and flawless. But are we overlooking the beauty of frizz? Frizzy hair can add texture, volume, and an edgy look that often goes underappreciated. In this article, we’ll explore three ways to embrace the frizz and effortlessly add some excitement to your hairstyle.

1. Backcombing: Create Controlled Chaos

Backcombing is one of the most popular methods for frizzing your hair because it gives you control over where and how much volume you want. To do this, follow these simple steps:

– Begin with dry hair, preferably a day after shampooing.

– Apply a light volumizing or texturizing spray, focusing on the roots.

– Section your hair into smaller areas.

– Using a fine-tooth comb or a special backcombing brush, start at the ends of your hair strands and work your way back towards the roots in short strokes.

– Repeat this process throughout your entire head until you achieve the desired level of frizz.

– Set your hair with a flexible hold hairspray.

2. Braiding: Playful Waves and Curls

If you’re going for a more natural look, braiding is an excellent way to create soft frizz without the damage from heat-styling tools:

– Begin with freshly washed hair that’s about 20% dry.

– Apply a light nourishing mousse or curl-enhancing cream to your damp locks.

– Divide your hair into multiple sections based on how much volume you want in your waves or curls. Smaller sections will result in tighter curls, while larger sections give you looser waves.

– Braid each section using a three-strand braid technique and secure it with elastic bands at the ends.

– Allow your hair to air-dry overnight or gently speed up the process using a diffuser attachment on your blow dryer.

– Unravel the braids and tousle your hair with your fingers for added frizz and texture.

3. Diffusing: Spotlight on Natural Curl Patterns

If you have naturally curly or wavy hair, using a diffuser is your best bet for enhancing frizz while maintaining your hair’s natural pattern:

– Begin with freshly washed and towel-dried hair.

– Apply curl-enhancing products such as leave-in conditioner, mousse, or gel.

– Attach a diffuser to your blow dryer and adjust the heat setting to low or medium.

– Gently gather sections of your hair and place it in the diffuser, using slow circular motions from the roots to the ends.

– Continue this process until your entire head is dry and voluminous.

Whether you choose to backcomb, braid, or diffuse, don’t be afraid to experiment with different frizz levels and textures for a unique and fashionable look. Remember to use nourishing products designed for textured hair to keep it hydrated, smooth, and healthy. Go ahead, embrace the frizz!
