3 Ways to Fix a Fake Tan Gone Wrong

A fake tan can instantly boost your confidence, giving you that sun-kissed glow you’ve always wanted. However, sometimes things can go awry, leading to uneven patches and embarrassing streaks. Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! Here are three easy methods to fix your faux glow and get back to looking fabulous!

1. Exfoliate Gently

The first step in correcting a botched fake tan is gentle exfoliation. Exfoliating helps remove the top layer of dead skin cells where the tan has accumulated unevenly, giving you a smoother surface for reapplication.
Start by using a damp washcloth or a gentle exfoliating scrub in circular motions over the problem areas. Be careful not to scrub too hard, as this may cause irritation. Rinse thoroughly and pat your skin dry with a clean towel.

2. Use Lemon Juice & Baking Soda

Lemon juice and baking soda are two natural ingredients known for their lightening properties. They can come in handy when trying to fix an uneven tan.

Mix equal parts fresh lemon juice and baking soda in a small bowl until you have a paste-like consistency. Apply this mixture to the streaks or patches on your skin, rubbing gently with your fingertips or a cotton pad for 1-2 minutes. Leave it on for up to five minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water. This process should help lighten the dark spots and even out color discrepancies.

3. Try A Tan Remover Product

Several tan-removing products are available on the market specifically designed to strip and correct self-tanner mishaps. Choose one that fits your needs based on your skin type and the severity of the unevenness.

Follow the instructions on the product’s packaging and apply it as directed (usually within 72 hours of tanning application). These removers generally work by breaking down the self-tanner’s molecules, making it easier to wash off and resulting in a more even skin tone.

In conclusion, we all make mistakes – especially when it comes to self-tanning. The good news is that it’s never too late to take corrective measures. By trying one or more of the above techniques, you can easily fix your fake tan and continue to enjoy that sun-kissed glow all year round!
