Are you having trouble accessing certain websites or features on your Safari browser due to disabled cookies? In this article, we’ll walk you through three simple methods to enable cookies in Safari. This way, you can effectively manage and customize your online browsing experience.

1. Enable Cookies Using Safari Preferences

The easiest method to enable cookies in Safari on your Mac is by accessing the browser’s Preferences:

a) Open the Safari browser on your Mac.

b) Click on “Safari” in the top-left corner of the screen, and then choose “Preferences.”

c) Go to the “Privacy” tab.

d) In the “Cookies and website data” section, make sure that “Block all cookies” is unchecked. If it’s selected, click on it to disable cookie blocking.

2. Enable Cookies via Safari’s Develop Menu

If you’re a more advanced user or a web developer, you may want to enable cookies through the Develop menu in Safari:

a) Click on “Safari” in the top-left corner of the screen, and then select “Preferences.”

b) Go to the “Advanced” tab.

c) Check the box next to “Show Develop menu in menu bar” and close Preferences.

d) Now, click on the newly appeared “Develop” in the menu bar.

e) Scroll down to “Disable Local File Restrictions” and ensure that it’s selected (it should have a tick mark). If not, click on it to enable cookies.

3. Manage Cookie Settings via Website Settings

For more control over individual websites’ cookie settings, follow these steps:

a) Open Safari on your Mac.

b) Navigate to the website where you’d like to enable cookies.

c) Click on “Safari” in the top-left corner of the screen.

d) Select “Settings for This Website.”

e) In the pop-up window, adjust the “Cookies and website data” settings. Choose “Allow” or “Allow from Current Website Only” as needed.

By following any of these three methods, you can enable cookies in Safari and enhance your browsing experience. Keep in mind that enabling cookies might have some privacy implications, so it’s wise to manage settings on a per-website basis whenever possible.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
