3 Ways to Cover Windows on Doors

Doors with windows can be a beautiful addition to any home, allowing natural light to brighten up the interior and adding a touch of charm. However, there may be times when you want to maintain your privacy or block out sunlight. In such instances, having suitable window coverings can make all the difference.
In this article, we will discuss three effective ways to cover the windows on your doors.

1. Curtains

Curtains can provide an elegant and classic solution for covering windows on doors. They come in various fabrics, styles, and colors, so you can easily find one that complements your décor. For a seamless look, choose curtains with either rod pocket or tie-top headers that can be easily installed on a tension or sash rod attached above the door window.

When selecting curtains for your door window, consider the function you desire. For instance, if you’re looking for privacy and light-blocking features, opt for thicker, darker fabrics. On the other hand, if you want diffused light with a hint of privacy protection, sheer or semi-sheer curtains work best.

2. Blinds

Blinds offer a practical and versatile option for covering windows on doors. Easy to clean and maintain, blinds are an excellent choice for busy households and those with pets or children. There are various types of blinds available on the market specifically designed for door windows:

– Vertical blinds: Ideal for sliding doors or oversized windows, vertical blinds have individual louvers that can be tilted open or closed as needed.

– Horizontal blinds: Available in materials like wood, faux wood, and aluminum, horizontal blinds work well for standard-sized door windows.

– Cellular shades: Made from soft woven fabric in a honeycomb pattern, cellular shades provide insulation and filter sunlight effectively while ensuring privacy.

Before choosing the type of blind that’s right for your door window, measure the dimensions of the window carefully to ensure a proper fit.

3. Frosted or Decorative Window Film

Window films can be easily applied to your door’s window glass, offering a modern and minimalistic solution for privacy and light control. Frosted window films allow light to pass through while obscuring visibility, creating an etched glass effect.

Decorative window films come in various patterns and designs, such as floral prints or geometric shapes, adding a touch of style to your door. Application is simple; all you need is a squeegee, some water, and the window film. You can even customize the size and cut-outs of the film to suit your door’s window measurements.

In conclusion, curtains, blinds, and window films are just three of the many options available for covering windows on doors. When deciding which option is best suited for your home, consider factors such as aesthetics, functionality, and privacy needs. With a bit of research and creativity, you can find the perfect solution that balances practicality with style.
