Introduction:

Orajel is a popular over-the-counter topical gel that provides temporary relief from toothaches, gum pain, and irritation caused by canker sores, dentures, or braces. Its active ingredient, benzocaine, works by numbing the painful area. In this article, we will discuss three different ways to apply Orajel for optimal results.

Method 1: Applying Orajel for Toothaches and Gum Pain

1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before applying Orajel to prevent the spread of bacteria.

2. Remove the cap from the tube and gently squeeze a small amount of gel onto a clean fingertip or cotton swab.

3. Apply the gel directly to the affected area, ensuring that you cover the entire painful spot. Ensure that you avoid contact with other areas to minimize numbing in unaffected parts.

4. Allow the gel to remain on the area for at least one minute before rinsing your mouth with water.

Warning: Do not use Orajel more than four times a day or consume food or drinks for at least one hour after application.

Method 2: Applying Orajel for Canker Sores

1. As always, wash your hands thoroughly before applying Orajel.
2. Dry the canker sore area gently using a clean tissue or cotton ball.

3. Apply a thin layer of Orajel directly on the canker sore using a cotton swab or fingertip. Be sure not to touch other areas of your mouth as this may spread infection or cause unnecessary numbing.

4. Allow the gel to sit undisturbed for at least one minute before rinsing your mouth with water.
Remember not to exceed four applications daily and to avoid eating or drinking for an hour after using Orajel.

Method 3: Applying Orajel for Dentures or Braces Irritation

1. Clean your hands and ensure that your dentures or braces are clean.

2. Apply a small amount of Orajel onto a cotton swab, fingertip, or directly onto denture wax if you are using it.

3. Gently place the gel on the irritated areas where your dentures or braces come in contact with your gums or cheeks.

4. Give the Orajel some time to work its magic before inserting dentures back into your mouth or resuming chewing.
Keep in mind the four times daily limit and one-hour food and drink restrictions after application.

Conclusion:

By following these three methods for applying Orajel, you can effectively relieve pain caused by toothaches, gum pain, canker sores, and irritation from dentures or braces. Always remember to follow the usage guidelines and consult a dentist or healthcare professional if pain persists or worsens.
