Introduction:

Short natural hair is versatile and can look amazing in a variety of styles. One of the most popular methods to style short natural hair is braiding. Braids not only help protect your hair from daily wear and tear but also offer numerous styling options that work well for both casual and formal occasions. Here are three simple ways you can braid your short natural hair.

1. Box Braids:

Box braids are a classic protective style that works well on short natural hair. Offering an elegant and low-maintenance option, box braids can frame your face beautifully. Follow these steps to create perfect box braids:

– Start by parting your hair into small square or triangular sections.

– Apply a moisturizing product or gel to hold the hair in place.

– Take each section and wrap it around a small piece of synthetic braiding hair.

– Divide both your natural and the added synthetic hair into three strands, and braid them together while holding the strands tightly.

– Continue down the length of the synthetic hair until you reach the end, then secure with a rubber band.

2. Flat Twist Braids:

Flat twist braids are an excellent alternative for those who find traditional cornrows challenging. With their intricate design that lies flat on the scalp, this style is perfect for short natural hair.

– Begin by sectioning off a small area of your hair along the front hairline.

– Divide this section into two equal parts, creating a gentle twist as you move along the scalp.

– Add more hair from both sides as you twist, creating a flat braid against your head.

– Continue twisting until you reach the nape of your neck, bringing any remaining free strands along with it.

– Secure the ends with a rubber band or bobby pin.

3. Crown Braid:

Crown braids are an elegant updo that can give short natural hair a regal feel. This style works best when the hair is long enough to wrap around the head once or twice.

– Start by parting your hair along one side, from the front of your head to the nape of your neck.

– Begin braiding the larger section, adding hair into the braid as you move and keeping it close to your hairline.

– Once you reach your ear, stop adding new sections and continue braiding until you reach the ends.

– Hold this braid gently with a bobby pin while you start braiding on the other side following the same process.

– Bring the two braids together to create a crown by overlapping them and securing with bobby pins.

Conclusion:

With these three different braiding techniques for short natural hair, you have options that are both stylish and protective. Remember to take care of your locks while wearing any braided style, and don’t hesitate to experiment with accessories for added flair. No matter your skill level, these simple styles offer fresh ways to showcase your short natural hair’s beauty.
