21+ Chromebook Keyboard Hacks Remote Learners (and Their Teachers) Need to Know

In the era of remote learning, Chromebooks have become vital tools for both students and teachers. These lightweight and affordable laptops offer a seamless online learning experience. However, many users are not aware of the numerous keyboard hacks that can significantly enhance their productivity. In this article, we will explore 21+ Chromebook keyboard hacks that remote learners and their teachers need to know.

1. Take a screenshot: Pressing Ctrl + Window Switcher key captures the entire screen, while Ctrl + Shift + Window Switcher key allows you to capture a specific area.

2. Switch between open apps: Use Alt + Tab to quickly switch between different open applications.

3. Close a tab: Press Ctrl + W to close the current tab in the Chrome browser.

4. Open a new tab: Use Ctrl + T to open a new tab in the Chrome browser.

5. Zoom in or out: Pressing Ctrl + Plus(+) or Minus(-) allows you to zoom in or out on a webpage.

6. Scroll through multiple open tabs: Hold down Ctrl and use the Tab key to cycle through your open Chrome tabs.

7. Enable Caps Lock: Press Alt + Search to enable or disable the Caps Lock feature.

8. Open the Launcher menu: Simply press the Launcher key to open the Launcher menu.

9. Access Google Assistant: To activate the voice-command-based Google Assistant, press the Launcher + A key.

10. Lock the screen: Use Ctrl + F4 to lock the Chromebook screen quickly.

11. Switch between windows: Press Alt + [Number] to switch between different open windows of the same application.

12. Open the task manager: Use Shift + Esc to open the Chromebook’s task manager.

13. Cycle through apps on the shelf: Press Alt + [Forward/Backward Arrow] to cycle through the apps on the shelf.

14. Open the File Manager: Use Ctrl + Alt + Shift + M to open the File Manager directly.

15. Take a partial screenshot: Press Ctrl + Shift + Ctrl to take a partial screenshot on a Chromebook.

16. Enable accessibility mode: Press Ctrl + Alt + Z to enable or disable accessibility mode.

17. Open app shortcuts: Use Alt + [App Tray Key] to open an app shortcut on the shelf.

18. Refresh the current page: Press Ctrl + R to refresh the current webpage.

19. Open the Downloads folder: Use Ctrl + J to quickly access the Downloads folder.

20. Swap windows: Press Alt + [Full-Screen Key] to swap open windows.

21. Open the status area: Use Alt + [Time/Status Key] to open the status area and access additional settings.

These keyboard hacks will undoubtedly make remote learning more efficient and convenient for both students and teachers.
