2024 Ram Rampage Spied Testing in the US, Should the Maverick and Santa Cruz Be Worried?

The unrelenting pace of innovation within the automotive industry has been electrifying, and recent spy shots indicate that the 2024 Ram Rampage is no exception. Spotted testing on American soil, its imminent arrival has naturally led to competitors like the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz feeling a little uneasy.

Although the spied test model was heavily camouflaged, it’s clear that the 2024 Ram Rampage has undergone an extensive reimagining. Carrying all of Ram’s signature design features, such as a bold grille and robust body lines, the overall look suggests a hulking presence compared to its earlier counterparts.

The competitive compact truck market is known for being ruthlessly cutthroat; however, initial impressions hint that this new offering might just soar above the rest. While existing players like the Maverick and Santa Cruz have carved commendable market share for themselves, they should undoubtedly watch their backs.

Rumors surrounding upgrades to the powertrain are particularly noteworthy. The 2024 Ram Rampage is likely to offer an array of options that cater to varying preferences between power and fuel efficiency. Multiple sources suggest a turbocharged four-cylinder engine will come as standard, while die-hard motoring enthusiasts may opt for a powerful V6 borrowed from Jeep’s upcoming Grand Cherokee two-row SUV.

The interior is also expected to receive some significant improvements to ensure drivers and passengers stay connected and entertained in this modern era. A Uconnect 5 touchscreen infotainment system – with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support – will likely be situated at its heart. Details on additional cabin enhancements remain scant at this stage; however, we expect upscale materials and clever storage solutions.

As far as price tags are concerned, it’s anticipated that the 2024 Ram Rampage will remain competitive with its rivals. An entry-level model may hover around the $25,000 mark, while high-end trims could fetch closer to $35,000.

Although launch specifics are still under wraps, the fact that a spied 2024 Ram Rampage was spotted on US soil is indeed a positive sign for truck enthusiasts. Existing rivals like the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz should maintain vigilance because the impending Ram Rampage might just upset the compact truck industry’s apple cart. As we wait with bated breath for further details to emerge, one question lingers: are the Maverick and Santa Cruz truly prepared for this fierce new competitor?
